Description

The COVID Resource Specialist acts on the cutting edge of adapting residential behavioral health care to a “new normal” while ensuring equitable access to treatment among the Chicago area’s most marginalized populations. The COVID Resource Specialist ensures that persons at Haymarket Center are safe and healthy as we achieve our mission of aiding “people with substance use disorders in their recovery by providing comprehensive behavioral health solutions” regardless of ability to pay. The COVID Resource Specialist is responsible for educating staff and clients on COVID-19, prevention strategies, and benefits of vaccination. The COVID Resource Specialist works with the Health & Wellness Department team members on vaccination efforts and helps coordinate testing for SARS-CoV-2 infections among persons entering Haymarket Center for treatment of substance use disorder. The COVID Resource Specialist also conducts linkage to isolation housing among infected persons and re-linkage to Haymarket Center among recovered persons; internal educational and contact tracing efforts; public health reporting; and screening of staff and clients for symptoms of COVID-19.
