Our YouthBuild Program works with unemployed youth who are not in school, ages 16-24, to complete their GED or HSD, combined with hands-on job training and personal development. Students spend half their day in the classroom and half in a vocational track. Classroom duties include tutoring, preparing and presenting lesson plans, service learning projects, and occasionally accessing community resources. Valid Driver's license and ability to operate a 15-person van with training is strongly preferred.

We are looking to fill these positions between 8/15/2021-3/15/2022. Flexible start date.

Service Activities

High School and GED Classroom Assistants must be role models and provide leadership for at-risk teens and young adults. You will be assisting the teacher in a credit recovery/vocational training program. Classroom duties include tutoring, preparing and presenting lesson plans, assisting with group projects, documentation, redirecting students, and helping students access community resources. Applicants should have experience working with youth and a desire to work in an educational setting; at least 6 months service with AmeriCorps or similar organization preferred and have relevant leadership experience.

Community Need Addressed

This position will assist young adults 16-24 in the classroom studying for their GED or High School diploma. They will help create hands on lesson plans for students who were not successful in traditional high school.
