YouthBuild Austin of American Youthworks (AYW) is a national leader, combining green building with affordable housing & education. Our YouthBuild Program works with unemployed youth who are not in school, ages 16-24, to complete their GED or HSD, combined with hands-on job training and personal development. Students spend half their day in the classroom and half in a vocational track. This is a full-time position. Classroom Assistant/Teacher’s Aides will spend their time assisting program teachers and staff in the GED and High School Diploma Classroom, and/or New Start Classroom. Members serving as Classroom Assistants/Teacher’s Aides lead, facilitate, and participate in classroom activities to support and guide participants in the successful completion of projects, certifications, and GED/HSD attainment. Full-time AmeriCorps members will provide support, guidance and encouragement in the development of youth leadership and personal development skills for YouthBuild Austin participants. Start date is flexible after 8/14/2022.
