Volunteers sort donations, steam clothing, help keep the store clean and organized, and perform retail functions.

Service Activities

• Serves with and trains community volunteers, and people obtaining community service hours by providing job skills, and other skills as needed.

• Serves in cooperation with other agencies and resources to both receive goods and provide services.

• Provides day-to-day operations of store to include:
o Cataloging and storing incoming donations.
o Daily set up of the store and facilitation of all stock and resources.
o Running the cash register.

• Provides an atmosphere of respect for both participants and other workers/volunteers.

• Maintains accurate records (fiscal and statistical).

• Seeks donations through private and corporate companies/organizations.

• May assist in other CAP programs when doing so does not interfere with above duties.

• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Community Need Addressed

Lack of low-cost clothing stores available to low-income residents.

Position Outcomes

Corps members will help low-income individuals and families to secure low-cost clothing and home goods in an environment that respects their dignity.

All food is provided for members who choose to live in community. The stipend ("living allowance") is $340 bi-weekly for members who live in community and $677 bi-weekly for members who live independently.
