This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position as an AmeriCorps member of YouthBuild Austin. Community Partnership and Volunteer Coordination AmeriCorps Members are responsible for developing and strengthening community partnerships for the YouthBuild program, including identifying partnerships for potential service projects and service learning initiatives. This member will also provide service implementing the program’s volunteer program, enabling the program to better serve low-income young people and community residents. This includes developing appropriate materials, recruiting and managing volunteers, and training the site’s staff as appropriate so that the site can sustain the program after the member’s term of service is completed. Valid Driver's license and ability to operate a 15-person van with training is strongly preferred.

Service Activities

Community Partnership & Volunteer Coordinator AmeriCorps member will recruit, train, and manage all YouthBuild program volunteers—mostly consisting of, but not limited to classroom tutors. Member will recruit both online and by giving presentations to community members. Additionally, member will update and maintain all YouthBuild social media outlets as well as publishing a quarterly YouthBuild e-newsletter. Member is responsible for cultivating partnerships with other organizations—like our tutoring partnership with St. Edwards University. Some events, especially volunteer appreciation events, will be planned by this member. AmeriCorps members must be able to be role models and provide leadership for at-risk teens & young adults. Community Partnership & Volunteer Coordinator AmeriCorps duties include:



· Recruit volunteers. Outreach methods include: extensive networking; presentations to faith, business, and/or community groups; staffing information booths at community events; and utilizing the media.

· Screen volunteers as necessary; procedures might include interviews, reference checks, and criminal background checks.

· Develop and facilitate orientation and training for volunteers.

· Supervise non-AmeriCorps volunteers; develop and implement recognition activities for volunteers such as special events, awards, gifts, etc.

· Maintain accurate records of volunteer participation.

· Develop community partnerships to support the volunteer or service-learning program.

· Serve as public ambassador for the program, YouthBuild USA, and AmeriCorps.

· Participate in YouthBuild Austin, YouthBuild USA, and AmeriCorps training, service projects, and other activities

· Assist with the planning and/or implementation of a project on a designated national day of service such as September 11th National Day of Service & Remembrance, Make A Difference Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; Global Youth Service Day and AmeriCorps Week

· Encourage partnerships with other local and national AmeriCorps programs



Driving Duties (If qualified) – Community Partnership and Volunteer Coordination AmeriCorps may be needed to drive if they are at least 21 years of age and provide the program with copies of their driver’s license, insurance and a clean 3-year driving record and complete the AYW driver training. Assistant Crew Leader Drivers are responsible for transporting corpsmembers and/or volunteers to events. Corpsmember Drivers are responsible for the safe operation of agency vehicles and ensuring that all passengers are wearing their seatbelts at all times.



Tools and Equipment:

Community Partnership and Volunteer Coordination AmeriCorps should be familiar with computers, able to use Microsoft Office Suite programs, familiar with email, internet research, power point presentations and social media.

Help build the volunteer base for an AmeriCorps program that is comprised of academic tutors and mentors for our student population, community volunteers for organizational growth and events.
