The Housing Stability Associate will be responsible for building the capacity of the Ending Homelessness Program at United Way by building an effective monitoring and evaluation tool to evaluate data and connect people experiencing homelessness to services. Starting in early 2021, after guidance from Public Health that events can be held, this position will including building the Family Resource Exchanges events – by identifying the most appropriate locations for the events, mobilizing service providers, recruiting volunteers, and engaging companies for donations – for each event. Overall, this position will aim to increase the financial stability of families experiencing homelessness and low income people by building the capacity of UWKC Family Resource Exchanges that directly connect with unsheltered community members experiencing homeless. By building these events, this AmeriCorps member will support 3,600 economically disadvantaged individuals (in families), including homeless individuals, receive housing services. This also includes supporting 1,800 individuals transition into safe, healthy, affordable housing. In addition, they will be accelerating the impact of United Way’s work to lift 50,000 people out of poverty and reduce the unsheltered population by 50%.
Service Activities
Experience working with non-profits and/or public agencies and/or college degree in related field

Position Outcomes
Homelessness is a crisis in King County. On any given night, over 11,000 people are experiencing housing insecurity and thousands are staying outside without shelter. Families – moms dads, children, aunts uncles, grandparents – making up about 2,500 of those individuals without a home every night. While the numbers have declined over the past year by 7% there is much more work to be done. Thus, United Way is committed to partnering with local agencies and caring people in our region to ensure that people in our community have homes.
The Starbucks Corporation challenged UWKC in partnership with well-known local agencies, Mary’s Place and Wellspring Family Services, to bring our mission to local communities where the need is the greatest across the county and host events called the Family Resource Exchange (FRE). These FREs focus on our collective goal to end family homelessness and create pop-up events that are one-stop shops to directly connect families to resources on-site for a few hours. At each event, families are directly connected to housing resources, employment, legal services, child care, hot meals, daily essentials, and so much more! Further, it not only brings financial assistance to families, but is an event focused on making an enjoyable time for families.
