NYSJC offers yearlong residential fellowships to young adults who want to share an experience of urban life, living intentionally, serving for justice, with spiritual, vocational and leadership development. During the service year, Fellows with attend retreats, be paired with a Spiritual Director, participate in group sessions that cover a topic of justice, and serve at a nonprofit organization to develop professional skills. We provide housing, meals, and transportation costs.

Service Activities

A broad range of activities in a variety of service agencies. Examples of activities that Fellows would complete on a day to day basis might include case management, volunteer management, and outreach communication support.

Community Need Addressed

Our positions are capacity building and direct services for the nonprofits with which we work. Fellows provide a broader range of services that organizations would not otherwise be able to provide. Our Fellows are engaged in eviction prevention case management, homelessness and housing advocacy, volunteer management, infrastructure communication services, and hunger relief support.

Position Outcomes

Fellows will experience a transformative year of service year, as emerging leaders, gaining greater self-awareness, a broader understanding of the intersectionality of faith and justice, and how each of them can make a difference in the world.
