The purpose of Community and Services Liaison is to recruit and help coordinate community volunteers. They will collaborate with Tu Casa staff to develop volunteer opportunities. They will help establish and implement a quality entry and exit experience for those utilizing Tu Casa services. They will assist Tu Casa staff in ensuring participant access to court, probation officers, DHS case managers and service programs. They will assure data collection and fidelity in Tu Casa’s entry and exit processes and will be able to generate reports of their activities

Service Activities

Responsibilities:
● Interview and screen all community volunteers to ensure the safety and well being of the volunteer as well as Tu Casa staff, volunteers, AmeriCorps members, and clients
● Act as a liaison between volunteers and the leadership they are responsible to
● Be an advocate and guidance figure for community volunteers
● Coordinate, develop, and expand volunteer opportunities in concert with program leaders and supervisors
● Host volunteer recruitment events that will illustrate the heart of Tu Casa and inspire others to action
● Explain the different volunteer opportunities to those interested in volunteering
● Match volunteers’ skills and interests with specific programs and coordinators
● Create specific positions and responsibilities for volunteers (organizing all book donations)
● Create and organize a volunteer appreciation program
● Maintain all community volunteer applications, waivers, time sheets (if applicable), and contact with probation officers and case managers
● Collaborate with other volunteer organizers and program leaders to determine and develop appropriate and safe projects for community volunteers
● Confront and guide community volunteers through behavioral issues
● Go to community groups (civic groups, college clubs, churches, etc...) and give presentations on the heart of Tu Casa and opportunities for volunteering
● Write and distribute thank you cards

Community Need Addressed

Tu Casa, Inc has two charities. One, Tu Casa, provides advocacy, education, shelter, referrals and direct services to survivors of domestic/intimate partner violence, stalking, harassment and sexual exploitation/trafficking. The other, The Child Advocacy Center, provides centralized child-friendly forensic interviewing, examinations, support and family advocacy for the entire San Luis Valley. The main function of a services liaison is to make the entry process into services and the exit process out of services to be welcoming, efficient, engaging and supportive.

Position Outcomes

The main function of the community liaison is to help develop and implement community education opportunities and to create volunteer opportunities for community members to support Tu Casa and the CAC’s services, fundraising, committee work and education. Because Tu Casa is a small nonprofit, with an essential community role, community participation is necessary to continued operation and services. The purpose of Community and Services Liaison is to recruit and help coordinate community volunteers. They will collaborate with Tu Casa staff to develop volunteer opportunities. They will help establish and implement a quality entry and exit experience for those utilizing Tu Casa services. They will assist Tu Casa staff in ensuring participant access to court, probation officers, DHS case managers and service programs. They will assure data collection and fidelity in Tu Casa’s entry and exit processes and will be able to generate reports of their activities. This position is also responsible for interviewing and screening volunteers to ensure the safety and well-being of the volunteer as well as Tu Casa staff, volunteers, AmeriCorps members, and participants. In screening volunteers, the organizer will assess the skill of a volunteer with the needs of Tu Casa’s programs, The member will not conduct any background checks but will require that volunteers complete background checks necessary to be in compliance with Tu Casa Policies.
