Description
As the only faith-based, non-profit health system in the area, St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System operates two hospitals with inpatient, outpatient, skilled-acute care, and emergency department facilities. The volunteer will be placed in the emergency department’s medical home program which specifically cares for vulnerable persons who are in need of additional resources to meet their basic needs. The Mercy Volunteer will serve as a health coach by identifying the needs of patients and assisting patients in establishing and maintaining a primary care office. The volunteer will also have an opportunity to train and support program interns.

Quarterly retreats are hosted by Mercy Volunteer Corps to provide volunteers with opportunities for reflection, spiritual growth, and shared experiences. Throughout the service, Mercy Volunteer Corps provides volunteers with webinars for personal and professional development.
