Description

The Digital Literacy and Technology Specialist (DLS) position is an exciting opportunity for professionals interested in teaching adults digital literacy and technical skills as part of the Adult Education team. As manager of the Digital Empowerment program, the DLS will have the opportunity to modify and implement digital literacy curriculum and classes.

Education: The DLS supports adult learners (18-60 y/o) working toward learning digital skills in Computer Basics, Internet, Microsoft Office and Social Media. Students earn Northstar Digital Literacy certificates that can be used as a credential for employment. All students receive personalized learning plans and 1:1 instructor support in our innovative classroom atmosphere.

Management: The DLS is responsible for managing the operation of the Digital Empowerment Lab (DEL) at Martha O’Bryan Center. The DEL is a drop-in computer lab located in Cayce Place homes. In the DEL, the DLS provides one-on-one support in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere, and help participants create resumes, apply for jobs, and much more. The DEL is also used for testing Adult Education students through the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) online platform. The DLS will be responsible for managing online testing and supporting adults pursuing their education as they navigate taking TABE and HiSET tests online.

Adult Education Support: As a Digital Inclusion advocate, the DLS is responsible for aiding the Adult Education team in the upkeep and use of technology for their Adult Education classes. This includes upkeep of classroom laptops and technology as well as supporting Adult Education teachers in online data entry and record-keeping. Finally, the DLS will help Adult Education and DEL promote services, programs, and events through posting on social media.
