St. Mary’s Community Center serves many individuals and families from Savannah's poorest census tracts. The injustices of poverty are many - unemployment, illiteracy, lack of health care, substandard housing, drugs and crime. provides workforce development classes and public benefits counseling for adults. The center strives to accompany people to improve their quality of life through education and job training services, tax preparation, public benefits application assistance, a monthly eye clinic, and collaborations with community partners. A volunteer is needed as a client assistant. The Mercy Volunteer will welcome clients, provide guidance for public benefits applications and renewals, facilitate job searches and edit resumes, organize the monthly eye clinic, and assist with tax preparation.

Quarterly retreats are hosted by Mercy Volunteer Corps to provide volunteers with opportunities for reflection, spiritual growth, and shared experiences. Throughout the service, Mercy Volunteer Corps provides volunteers with webinars for personal and professional development.
